Now that summer is ending, it’s time to start thinking about your move to college. Whether you’re a first-year student moving into a dorm or a junior venturing off campus into an apartment, there are several basic tips you can follow that will make the transition easier. The University of Florida movers at A-Turner Moving & Storage want your return to college to be as smooth as possible. When packing for your move, we recommend that you:

·  Use a list: Organization is extremely important when packing for college, so it’s best to use a list and check off items as you pack. Most schools have lists available on their websites, and you can add whatever items you need.

·  Coordinate with your roommate: Having two TVs and coffee makers will only take up space and cause frustration. Speak with your roommate ahead about what you plan to bring.

·  Less is more: Whether you’re moving into a dorm room or an apartment, limited space is an issue you’ll have to consider. If you’re not sure that something will fit, don’t bring it – you can always add it later.

·  Avoid excess packing material: Too many packing peanuts and excess bubble wrap will only leave a mess for you to clean up. Instead, you can pack in an eco-friendly way by wrapping your delicate items in blankets.

·  Pack a first-day kit: This may include snacks, clothes, toiletries and anything else you might need right away. Also remember to bring power strips in case the outlet isn’t on your side of the room!
